*CORE VALUES – We promise to …* * *Explore Faith* * *Welcome All* * *Build Leaders* * *Care for ALL Creation* * *Connect At the Water* *POSITION OVERVIEW* The NeSoDak Program Director works to further the mission and core values of Lutherans Outdoors in South Dakota by providing outstanding ministry experiences at Camp NeSoDak through exceptional leadership, innovative program development, and a fostering of community through relational ministry, excellent communication, and living creation stewardship.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:* *Communication* Maintain open and honest communication with all NeSoDak staff Welcome and seek out ways to keep the LOSD Administrative office informed – information and questions.
Actively work with the site staff at Klein Ranch and Outlaw to form a cohesive team working toward the same Core Values.
*Program Leadership – Explore Faith & Build Leaders* Foster and Model Christian leadership and faith formation in all areas of programming at the Camp NeSoDak site including summer programs, programmed retreats and hosted ministries.
Seek out and listen to congregation leaders to identify programmatic needs.
Create, develop, market, implement, and evaluate innovative summer ministry experiences including residential camping programs, adventure programs, day camp ministries, mission trips, and intergenerational programs that meet identified needs.
Oversee the daily operations of the summer programming including daily camp activities, weekly and daily schedules, camper and summer staff supervision and assignments, with a focus on health & safety policies and procedures.
Communicate housing, food service, and facility needs with the staff prior to events Recruit, hire, train, affirm and evaluate the summer ministry team.
Ensure all staff certifications are maintained and records kept.
Create, develop, market, implement, and evaluate a *minimum* of four (4) programmed retreat experiences per year.
Oversee all areas of outdoor educational programs serving school groups throughout South Dakota including curriculum development, marketing, and outreach.
Oversee and coordinate all retreat hosts and environmental education staff as needed.
*-continued-* *Hospitality – Welcome All* Provide exceptional hospitality for all guests at NeSoDak including both programmed ministries and hosted ministries Creating all reservations, contracts, invoicing, and payments for hosted ministry guests.
Actively participate in generating and implementing new ways of radical hospitality for guests.
Assist the Hospitality Manager in the area of VRBO reservations and confirmations.
Communicate with the Hospitality Manager at least 10 days in advance all dietary restrictions and special menu requests.
Assist Hospitality Manager with food service as needed.
Assist Hospitality Manager with schedule planning for all facility usage; assist with preparation and cleaning before and after user groups as needed.
Provide leadership in seeking innovative ways to boost the guest experience.
Work with the other LOSD sites to institute hospitality which becomes identified with LOSD.
*Outreach* Assist with NeSoDak and LO promotional and financial development events.
Partner with congregations, pastors, and youth workers to encourage participation in NeSoDak programs and the use of facilities.
When possible, attend youth director and/or rostered leader gatherings to strengthen the connections with congregations of the South Dakota ELCA Synod and neighboring congregations/communities.
Visit a minimum of ten to fifteen (10-15) congregations per year in effort to recruit program participants, strengthen ministry partnerships, and build relationships with congregational leaders.
*Administration* Keep the master camp usage calendar up to date.
Share calendar updates at each staff meeting.
Enforce and practice all policy and procedures adopted by LOSD.
Assist the NeSoDak Camp Director to maintain ACA standards for NeSoDak.
Oversee Camp store ordering, inventory and procedures.
Work in partnership with all LOSD staff to use common practices, policies and procedures.
Attend various conferences, retreats, and other Lutheran Outdoor Ministry opportunities for the purpose of training and growth.
